Some variation on Wood Elves seems sensible for the set, certainly.

Does it bother us that this roughly costs {g} on every turn after the first turn?

On the one hand, Norwood Ranger wasn't breaking anything. But on the other hand, I don't like obsoleting Wood Elves in two ways at once. I'd rather this cost {2}{g}, or brought the Forest tapped.

I'm going to change this to tapped. Otherwise we're still obsoleting Wood Elves...

Why not make it 1/1? {2}{g}{g}{g}, right? That makes it sort of like Wood Elves. Though maybe not in this case, since, as you said, it's like it only costs {g}. In a way, this is like a hasted Llanowar Elves with vigilance... which triggers landfall... okay, that's a bad comparison.

I don't know. With Farhaven Elf in existence, don't you only use Wood Elves nowadays in mono-green anyway? You know, assuming you aren't illegally playing with Skullclamp and aren't equipping Skullclamp to the Wood Elf using the forest it got. Man, that was insane. Also, I just disproved myself.

The "≈" in Link's comment breaks down in certain places. I suspect one of them is with mana acceleration. Land Aid '04 is a lot worse than Cultivate.

This was unsurprisingly popular in the first playtest, but didn't seem overpowered.
