Welcome back to Name That Card! I noticed a little while ago that Green was seriously underrepresented on Name That Card, so I've been working on filling that gap.

This card is inspired by Icatian Javelineers. As a matter of fact, it might be part of a cycle of 1cc creatures (and it's quite possible that the Javelineer ability was switched to Red where it belonged, and only targets creatures for balance reasons now. Or maybe it's just a one-off. Your choice.

But enough about the inspiration. This card needs a name, a creature type, and a counter type. Have at it.

You know; I think we ought to make this interact with the implicit-behaviour counters. So it's a "Reach" counter. Which I reckon means this is a Hammock Spider

That's a reasonable choice. I forgot to mention not to use +1/+1 or -1/-1 counters, though, since that's just silly. ;)

I had thought about +1; it's really quite functional. But more than a bit too good for the casting cost. And this way the spider can fall from its web, becoming more powerful on the way down :)

Oh, yes, Triskelion but p/t boost is a perfectly reasonable card. It's the common 2/2 for {g} that isn't reasonable (yet).

Squire of Gaea

Creature: Squirrel Knight

Counter Name: Blessing

Could be a cycle of common one-drops that use 'blessing counters', also squirrel knights is a bit unsetlike, but that doesn't disqualify it from NTC :)

I mean, if they ever do another set in Otaria, I expect the squirrels to all come rushing out...

Friendly Willow
Dryad Scout
Vigilance Counter

Yeah, I like the idea of a named counter. I think wizards avoid one-off counters nowadays, although if they have ability counters they might branch out into something like the blessing counters with a specific type that goes on creatures. But a green not-very-powerful ability word is probably about right.

I tried to capture the flavour of a secret woodland lurker who wanted to help you but was shy enough you barely saw each other. But who might be fearsome at the right moment.

I adore that flavor, very cute.

I am so here for squirrel knights! I see the poll but again I just love all of them this week, people had good ideas!

Mm, ability counters sound cool. But if this isn't an ability counter, and nor is it a oneoff counter, then it must be a familiar counter type... that goes on green creatures... so this is obviously a:

Budding Thallid
Creature - Fungus
With a spore counter!

...Oops, was looking at an old version of the page :)

Disqualified!

Unfortunately, too. I would've voted for this suggestion :(

If JM decides to pardon your late proposal, than you have my +1

Oh of course! That does feel correct! Although "budding" feels like it could describe any thallid, I wonder if there's an adjective more relevant to the ability?

I am accepting Froggy's +1 vote for Budding Thallid after the fact. That means that every entry now has precisely one vote. So here's a run-off vote with all four entries.

My favorite entry is either Squire of Gaea or Friendly Willow...

but since Alex's is the most appropriate, it wins my +2 (play on words, i didn't vote twice pls don't call csis)

Alex does what shouldn't be done and wins the run off vote. ;)

I'll see everybody in (((NTC #057)))!
