I don't know what color this should be or what flavor it evokes. I just like the ability. Ideas?
"It's a crumbling golem that instead of attacking falls over, crushing something and then becomes a pile of rocks token. Somehow."
The original quote:
> "And then after it falls on your opponent, this creature turns into a Pile-of-Rubble token creature. Uh, somehow." (My templating skills rule.)
I think the "nerf it" ability should have a sorcery-speed restriction (as in, "but only any time he or she could cast a sorcery"). Sounds like perhaps a Mercenary which the opponent can buy off, so red or black. Also, as phrased there it's basically a Lava Spike. The trick will be making it so that sometimes the opponent will want to activate the nerf-it ability, but sometimes they'll want to try to cope without it. Maybe add "discard a card" to the activation cost?
made into a Mercenary
Any plans on adding a card to the file that has a transformed side, but no obvious way to transform it on the card? Like if a werewolf was printed in Innistrad, but the only way to switch it was with things like Moonmist? I'd assume you'd have to keep that card as simple as possible, so that what is missing becomes noticeable...
I was. I just haven't gotten around to it yet. Suggestions on a flavor reason?
Ancient artifact that can't be unlocked without the proper 'key'?
An ancient curse that's affected a person's bloodline, but lays dormant generation after generation?
Dormant Volcano
Mostly, this depends on the flavor of the set... I haven't caught onto if there is a specific flavor thread, yet. If no, then I suppose the 'transformed' is not as important as the 'key'. If you have an interesting item that transforms a subset of things, it doesn't take much to imagine a card that can only be transformed by it.
Or you could [[[B.F.M. (Big Furry Monster)]]] it, and have both cards do nothing special without each other, and transform each other. Actually, you may want to do that too.
I like all of those ideas. This set is still a rough draft for all my DFC concepts. I'm working on building a world as well, which you can read about in the Style Guide. The individual cards do far, while able to exist within the structure I'm setting up, don't yet lead to a cohesive environment that can be discovered solely through the cards.
Oh hey, jmg came up with meld!
