I'd cost this at one more.
maybe. You get a Counterspell/Cancel on top of Meddling Mage.
Getting a Counterspell/Cancel on top of Swordwise Centaur gets us Frilled Mystic.
To be fair, the Cancel is not independent of the Meddling Mage. If you could use this to counter one spell and then preemptively ban another, that'd be even stronger. Of course this way it's more sensible and more tied together. I think this price (
) and rarity (rare) is right, though I could possibly even see this being mythic in some sets.
If it was mythic, it could probably be 4/4 and have flying. 😉
