changed wording from "any target" to "a creature, player, or planeswalker." I don't think "any target" was right when this card itself doesn't target.

You don't have to mention what's being dealt damage if it's just "anything."

"Whenever an instant or sorcery [you control?] deals damage, put a +1/+1 counter on ~."

That's the full list of things that can be damaged. Just say "whenever an instant or sorcery spell deals damage"
