I just realized that you get a different effect when you contingency cast it. I assume this would have a special frame to obviously separate the two effects?

This mechanic also feels similar to Hearthstone secrets. Technically, I guess secrets are halfway between this and Zendikar traps

Yes, these would have a special frame treatment, possibly similar to Adventures.
