I don't think this actually works. Actually, it also means you don't have to sac the rune. What about "when it attacks or blocks, the next time you would activate an ability of a Rune this turn, it costs one mana of any color less to activate"
That deviates from what I'm looking for, but I will take your suggestion to heart.
specified mana cost. I hope this form works. I added in "until ~ transforms or leaves the battlefield" because the intention was to use the rune during the combat phase
If the combat part is important, you could also just adjust my suggestion to be "this combat" instead of "this turn"
