White still can't draw cards

Well, it can, but not with this level of efficiency. It can have effects like Mentor of the Meek and Dawn of Hope, but this is far more efficient, especially card-cost wise, than white should get.

Mentor is a break, and Dawn is also a severe bend. White isn't supposed to have those effects. The only card draw white gets are cantrips, symmetrical (if Happily Ever After actually sets precedent), or extremely niche (like Sram, although he's a bit pushed too)

Yeah, that's basically it. There's been discussion about white and card draw recently -- with red getting impulse draw and green getting draw effects more frequently, white is the only color without any meaningful card advantage, and people have been complaining. Even WotC said they were planning to experiment with white getting symmetrical card draw. With that in mind, I decided to see how far I could push it.

Obviously this is a bit much though, going by the reactions. Do you think this would work at 2wg instead? Or maybe even 1wg?

This could be done in mono-green, but green's tokens are usually larger than 1/1. And white gets plenty of card advantage, people are just dumb and don't realize that board wipes are massive card advantage. The best color at 1-for-1 removal can't also get good card draw, or else it turns into green in current standard

I mean, you can argue that Mentor of the Meek is a break all you want, but when they continue to print similar effects — Puresteel Paladin, Bygone Bishop, Dawn of Hope, Sram. They're all similar enough that you can't call one a break/bend and not the other.

Given precedent, White is allowed to have triggered card draw based on things it's allowed to care about it other situations. It's allowed to have card draw that normally (but not always) negates card disadvantage rather than providing advantaged.

Puresteel and Sram require you to build your deck around equipment, which means you're not running very many answers. Every white deck has weenie creatures, which means that Mentor and Bygone don't have any real deckbuilding restriction to balance them. (And I'd argue Bygone is only a bend, because every set gets to bend around its key mechanic)
