This sure is a risky land drop
True, but it's a gold land that enters untapped.
As a land, I think it automatically falls off whatever its attached to, then dies because it's an aura not attached to anything. You also can't target something when you play it, because land drops don't use the stack

You misremember the rule. Nothing about it talks about lands becoming unattached. Creatures are the problem card type.

Yup, the only thing that inherently can't be attached to other things is creatures, and auras just arrive attached to something they can enchant if they have no target. That's why blinking auras is possible.
