Hmmm. I think we don't often see huge-cost blue combo pieces because the combo as a whole costs a lot. So the expensive things don't tend to be combo; and so, well, end up big and stompy.
I mean - I love me the sphinx. But the 4-cost ones tend to do more interesting things than the 6+ cost ones do.
I think blue needs more expensive Blue creatures that give you free stuff. Agent of Treachery is one of my favourites.
This is easy: Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur.
I like Stormtide Leviathan for keeping me safe. Unless multicolor blue creatures count, in which case Sphinx of the Steel Wind does that even better
But if you want combo, Palinchron is where it's at. Free spells just get better the more mana they cost
I like Tidespout Tyrant though I'm partial as it was one of my first Magic cards. I prefer big blues to have some type of ability that can mess with my opponents, like Tidespout Tyrant and the already mentioned Stormtide LEviathan.
Oh Tidespout Tyrant is very nice. Jin Gitaxias just seems like a great way to mill yourself to death (or victory).
