"In response I tap it for mana"
Would an opponent have time to do that if you were stealing it from them?
I guess mana abilities activate at faster than instant speed... but it's not even a then effect, it happens as soon as soon as the spell resolves.
I guess I need to add an untap it to be safe...?
yes keep untap. Mana abilties dont even go on the stack so they can tap it then do something in response even.
Not really good for casting spells (you get 1 mana for 2). Useful for Drezgorian Ancient.
Can be good for casting spells if the land you target is an Awakened Grounds enchanted with Awakened Growth. That right there is for just , resulting in gained. I suppose you could also gain just and have spent , but have your manland open (to throw into combat to either deal damage or die, in which case no loss for you, cause it wasn't your land)
wording is clearer
I believe that if you use this on an already animated Awakened Grounds, it'll cease to be a creature, making this a bad Fog. If you do it in response to the animation activation, you'll steal the land and then it'll become a creature, though it'll have summoning sickness.
Still looks super niche. You could easily add a cantrip or take this down to 1 mana.
Thanks, I will add a Cantrip (this set doesn't have 1-mana instants). I hadn't really though about how Niche this was... even in a set with land-theme.
Why would this stop a manland from being a creature? If the turn hasn't ended? I understand the summoning sickness, though, since you've only controlled it for one round.
Oh, sorry, I'm wrong. "Becomes a Swamp" removes all other land subtypes (205.1a) and also removes all abilities (305.7) including haste, but doesn't actually remove other card types like creature.
Thanks for the correction. I knew that becoming a Swamp removes other land subtypes, I did not know it removes abilities? I guess that's what you were saying earlier, I just wasn't familiar with the rule behind it.
I kind of don't want to remove abilities, so I might add 'in addition to other types' and remove the cantrip. That's much more powerful, but shouldn't be busted, i dont think.
I stayed up until 5 AM reading the comprehensive rules last night and was surprised to see for myself that making a land Swamp removes all it's abilities!! What?? That's like if making a creature a vampire made them lose trample!
Honestly, still don't understand wtf priority is. but it seems to work, at least.
This should definitely say 'in addition', so i'm keeping it like that. Mostly because there's lots of juicy lands to steal with this card in this set, plus Drezgorian Ancient with this can be extra mean.
