What's the point of the third symbol here?

In what situation would you want to spend 6 life to cast a spell that does nothing, when you can just cast another manaless spell instead?

Same comment I posted for Erasure, you wouldn't. The third symbol is there to make it capable of performing the same job as anger of the gods/sweltering suns. I wanted to make a cycle of phyrexian cards where the obvious option was not to cast for 6 life. I don't see a problem with cast for 0 mana doing nothing, same as casting earthquake or fireball for X=0.
