I like the replacing the first card drawn each turn with a tutor effect. - Another possibility is the future sight effect with an activated ability that lets you scry. (Created a third Contessa card.)
Another possibility is ETB exiling your library for as long as you control Contessa, replacing all draws with putting a card exiled into your hand and errata that shuffles your library when it returns.
Giving her hexproof was part of my attempt to represent her short-term victory ability. I could also make her unblockable, although that's an oppressive enough combination on a card without adding the fact that it can be a Commander and is an alternate win conduction.
The Shrieking Drake combo is frustrating, but I don't think it's that much worse than Sanguine Bond+Exquisite Blood... Or at least I'm going to pretend that it isn't.
Oh indeed, but that's casting the victory of the whole game as her victory. And while Contessa does indeed plan for long-term victory, her power is more obvious when she uses it to gain short-term victories - sidestepping just when someone's about to punch her, that kind of thing.
Hmm. Not keen on this approach to Contessa. I'd rather show her efficiency at intermediate tasks. This looks like some mastermind who stays in her hideout and merely orders the steps to be taken towards her ultimate victory.
Contessa is the other card which was trying to capture Contessa's ability. We discussed a couple of other options over there.
Is it worth noting that this is technically the same name as the card Foil? I know this based on the Worm universe, and I know nothing about Worm. But if there happens to be another way to switch the name out, I would think it would make sense.
The control combat each turn is white/red effect (Master Warcraft)
An attempt to capture Contessa Path to Victory ability as a future sight ability with the a variant on the others Contessa library ability.
Changed Intimidate to Menace. Maybe make the card WR for flavour and mechanic reasons.

Turn 6, name Shrieking Drake. Turn 7, name Shrieking Drake. Isn't that how it works? Two turns being plenty "long term" enough and all that?

It's meant to display her "path to victory," where each spell that's cast represents a step in that path..

True.
Well, he also specialises in destroying lands, which isn't very blue either.
I'd been assuming we'd just ignore that. The same applies to Battery / Assault // Battery, Leviathan / Leviathan, and Purity / Purity.
We could probably add subtitles to some of the less distinctive names.
