I think a complete list of rares with 0 or 1 words of rules text is:
Vanilla rares since I started playing
Indomitable Ancients Isamaru, Hound of Konda Vizzerdrix Savannah Lions
Vanilla rares before I started playing
Original 5 dual lands. Goblin Hero Mons's Goblin Raiders Trained Orgg
French vanilla rares since I started playing
Force of Savagery Goliath Sphinx
French vanilla rares before I started playing
Benthic Behemoth Djinn of the Lamp Pale Bears Pygmy Allosaurus Roc of Kher Ridges
Originally I was going to say "Create a vanilla rare", but I opened it up from there. Feel free to be as strict or as loose as you like with what counts as a "word", the spirit of the challenge is "simple". I know this will give some close duplication, given that there's only so many possibilities, but I thought it was interesting enough to try.
And since it's much more likely here, link to existing cards you designed that fit the criteria if you want to.
Oh, I finally have an idea! Can I have Challenge 9 please?
That makes sense. I like the ability (though if it's 1 more, maybe it should apply to all spells, it'll still affect you more than the opponent, as they will normally only want to target it once).
I'm not sure how much to cost discount to give for the mirror creatures -- this is probably about right (they'll often be useless, but good in the right decks). But in terms of the advantages/drawbacks, if red, black and blue get a 2/2 with a typical drawback, and white gets a bonus, green should probably get nothing or a bonus too.
I lessened the reverse hexproof to making them cost
more, still a drawback but not as total.
I'll post challenge #05 tomorrow (or maybe this afternoon).
I know what you mean, Veil feels more mystical. I think the reason Hexproof is good is because it's more specific about what it does -- it's proof against bad spells.
I think the reverse hexproof ability is interestnig: I used it on one or two creatures. But I put it on a black one: shouldn't green get an advantage compared to the other colours?
has reverse Hexproof (I must say I prefer Camruth's name for the hexproof ability - Veil).
All good points.
I have changed up the cycle somewhat, removed the 'infinite loop' possibility, and added some variety to the creatures. Hopefully this is now a much more flavorful cycle.
