Added Sakashima, the Pretender.
For Challenge # 075 and based on Sakashima the Impostor. The cost is pretty damn high, but I wasn't sure how to cost Spitting Image with buyback. 8? 7 is probably reasonable, too, but I don't know.
Also that [+3] has nothing to do with Sakashima, but the card is wordy, and I wanted to be as simple as I could get. You're already paying 8 here, so two cards seems fine. As an alternative, it could also say "Creatures named 'Sakashima the Imposter' gain flying." But I wasn't sure how much I should heavy hand that. There's a lot of space to work with here with creatures of the same name... pity there's only so much space on the card.
The +2 is very blue-black. I don't think I have a problem with it being white-blue in theory... but it kind of fights against "One of the only things blue and black seem to agree on", so it's a pretty tough sell moving it to another color.
. Strong card, otherwise.
I like this. I kind of wish there were more two ability planeswalkers. They make a good change of pace. I would say, though, that putting a token creature into play as the middle ability would make a lot of sense... since the fist and last ability doesn't do anything without creatures.
Shortened his name.
Partly because they're like irritating flashback sorceries. Effect now, and effect later. Another thing I need to keep track of.
Partly because they have a tonne of little caveats and fiddly bits. We're used to the annoyances of the land drop, but this is another set of fiddly.
Partly because they're almost all ridiculously overpowered.
Probably mostly because of that, to be frank. They suffer from the same problem as all mythics; they freakin ought to cost 8+; but most of them don't.
Haha. If you're breaking an Un-card, I don't think you have to worry.
Why do you hate Planeswalkers so much, by the way? I think it's my favorite card type.
I made Isperia, Voice of Law and Rafiq, Sigil Champion.
Oh; I probably broke some "Pay X life:" effect somewhere, didn't I? Still; a two card combo, one of which is 8 mana, to double your life total every couple of turns is probably in the realm of "Well spotted sir" rather than "Ooops, nerf it"
Hah; and maybe not even that - the only permanent "X life" appears to be Necro-Impotence.
In fact, lets do that
Yeah; I didn't want to use up lots of lines. I guess it could have just been "Blocked creatures gain +1/+1" and it's almost be the same.
Planeswalkers tend to refer only to evergreen keywords.
I like the -3 being at instant speed. That's neat.
Changed first ability; tweaked other two.
Oh go on then. Chromium, Planeswalker.
For Challenge # 075 Chromium was the EDH I owned, and very shiny he was too. So, if nicol Bolas can ascend, so can the shiny chrome dragon.
Bolas' "I heet you" ability turns "I heet you AND annhilator. His "I am a bookworm" picture turns into control and destruction.
Chromium has rampage; which became bushido. Plus he's shiny; so we'lll go with reflection, and some kind of balance effect for the ultimate.
Man; I loathe planeswalkers.
You beat me in my transfer from Kindle to computer.
I guess the +2 is a bit abnormal for white/blue, but I'm not sure it's out of pie. It's inspired by Isperia the Inscrutable, but also by Squadron Hawks and Ranger of Eos. Blue is capable of searching for creatures, but usually does so in your opponent's library. Admittedly, after looking through the Gatherer, it's a bit more odd than I thought.
Created for Challenge # 075. Based on Isperia, Supreme Judge / Isperia the Inscrutable.
I love the ultimate. Hilarious amounts of card advantage (well, like Isperia, Supreme Judge in that respect).
The [0] is scary. Triple Martial Law = owch. But I guess this is a 7-mana gold mythic, so fine.
The +2 seems at first nod like a fine nod to the original Isperia, but on second look, isn't it somewhat out of pie?
I was going for a flavorful design, or at least one linked to her previous version, but I feel like I ended up making a sideboard planeswalker.
@Alex: oops, I'd completely forgotten Vraska. That is basically the Phage the Untouchable card in planeswalker form. I mostly prefer that version, although I like a few things about mine.
@SM: Yeah, I guess I read too quickly. "That hasn't appeared on a planeswalker card" made so much more sense to me, and both of the examples given were for planeswalkers that had actually been made into cards, I assumed it was just "don't redesign a card which has already been both a legendary creature and a planeswalker", it didn't occur to me we were supposed to be inventing a whole new planeswalker character, not just a new planeswalker card.
Heh, and so is Mark Rosewater.
Phage has been a planeswalker in the actual story, so I don't think this fits the challenge.
