I also want to make a really terse charm. The best I can come up with is to have a blue sorcery with "Choose one - scry N; or proliferate; or end the turn", but they don't really go well together. Are there any better ideas for one and two word effects, or short three word effects?
Oh, sorry! I thought you made (((Temporal Charm))) with suspend, which was 0-CMC-but-not-
, but that wasn't you. Did you make one that I didn't see?
Oh yes, I'd forgotten Rain of Thorns. I feel it's cheating by really wanting to say "destroy target artifact, target enchantment, and target land, but without templating restrictions" but I suppose I'm subject to the same criticism :)
Magma Charm for the very unexciting
slot.
For Challenge # 081. Because who doesn't like a magma charm tossed into their hands?
I used
, because you wouldn't be able to cast the spell otherwise. :p
I suppose I could have written "As an alternative cost" instead of "As an additional cost". That's kind of weird wording. An alternative to what, exactly? :D
There's "choose one or more" (Rain of Thorns). I don't think it sounds less cool.
Oh, this is very nice Jack. The only criticism I'd have is that it probably costs too much, even at
. After all, all 4 on just means "Everyone loot, then cast Nausea". Still makes a perfectly fine common, but I assume the rest of the cycle can't be commons.
Maybe bring all the numbers up to 2 and cost this at

? Oh, also, perhaps put the discard before the draw? This is one of the few examples of a card that can do that and stay in blue-black's color pie.
I didn't know/remember Banners Raised. I didn't want to outdate many cards, but I also care about word limit, so I probably wouldn't have added "attacking" or anything anyway.
Huh, I can't remember if I ever saw the
mana costs on multiverse.
Did you use
? You had a spell with a converted mana cost of zero, but did it actually use the mana symbol
? :) I did hesitate trying to remember if that had gone or not :)
Disentomb is very acceptable for both colors, just not for one hybrid mana and instant.
Although now that I think about it, I could have used "Return target creature card with power 4 or greater" or something less weird than the current third ability.
See, now I want to make a deck which is nothing but charms. I'm sure that won't result in me leaping out a window to escape the crushing weight of my analysis paralysis.
Green and white have so much in common that I didn't have to resort to the "What creature keyword do they share?" route.
I'm not sure exiling creatures on the way to the graveyard is in black's color pie.
Note that dealing damage to a creature and giving it -X/-X accomplishes almost the same thing, and dealing damage to a player and making him or her lose life does, too. So it doesn't play weird at all, but it does read as strange as Murderous Redcap, Bump in the Night and Strangling Soot.
The completist in me must add

to Jack's list. That and subtract
, since I used that one.
Hmm... does {Z} work? Guess not.
Also, Jack, do not tempt me to make a charm worth
. I'm afraid of what monstrosity that would result in.
For Challenge # 081
For ages I've wanted to make a spell with "choose any number". It just sounds so cool to not be constrained by petty templating specifications and just go ahead and use as many parts of the spell as you want :)
I'm not sure if this is the best combination of abilities. Any better suggestions?
But it seems reasonable, in that all the abilities are quite situational, you might legitimately want or not want any of them at any particular point. And the symmetry is nice, that they pair up into a fairly standard ability if you put each pair together.
I'm not sure about cost. Maybe this could be UB, but the -0/-1 ability maybe pushes it further up, as does potentially-instant-speed discard?
Bane Alley Charm at
, using "choose any number"
Wanted to try my hand at a wedge one too: Teneb's Charm
And a three-colour-wedge charm Oros Charm
For Challenge # 081
If I looked it up right, we had a couple of cycles of three colour charms, but no Wedge charms.
I'm not sure if the wedges have real names; I'm naming them after the dragons for now.
I looked for three two-colour abilities. I'm reasonably happy. Black (or maybe red) could do +1/-1 alone, but it feels better together.
I toyed with making this a joke on "N damage, gain N life", which could be either WR or B, but I couldn't think of any "WB or R" or "BR or W" abilities to go with it :)
Challenge # 081
Oh, cool! I was toying with ideas for an eldrazi charm, but wasn't sure what to put on it. I had exactly the "add 5 mana" ability. I also considered "target permanent [or Eldrazi?] gains protection from all colours until end of turn".
How about a colorless Eldrazi Charm instead?
