For Challenge # 081
For ages I've wanted to make a spell with "choose any number". It just sounds so cool to not be constrained by petty templating specifications and just go ahead and use as many parts of the spell as you want :)
I'm not sure if this is the best combination of abilities. Any better suggestions?
But it seems reasonable, in that all the abilities are quite situational, you might legitimately want or not want any of them at any particular point. And the symmetry is nice, that they pair up into a fairly standard ability if you put each pair together.
I'm not sure about cost. Maybe this could be UB, but the -0/-1 ability maybe pushes it further up, as does potentially-instant-speed discard?
Oh, this is very nice Jack. The only criticism I'd have is that it probably costs too much, even at . After all, all 4 on just means "Everyone loot, then cast Nausea". Still makes a perfectly fine common, but I assume the rest of the cycle can't be commons.
Maybe bring all the numbers up to 2 and cost this at ? Oh, also, perhaps put the discard before the draw? This is one of the few examples of a card that can do that and stay in blue-black's color pie.
There's "choose one or more" (Rain of Thorns). I don't think it sounds less cool.
Oh yes, I'd forgotten Rain of Thorns. I feel it's cheating by really wanting to say "destroy target artifact, target enchantment, and target land, but without templating restrictions" but I suppose I'm subject to the same criticism :)
