The more I think about this card, the more I like it.
I mean - it's 'destroy tapped lands', in green. Which is the colour with the best chance to make the 5 mana without using lands. And it kills artifacts and enchantments, which green does well...
But it's still mass land-destruciton, in green. Which... huh, claims to have land destruction secondary nowadays. Stupid broken colour pie.
A variant on Diminish and Turn to Frog. Seems fair. Could probably be
, because Turn to Frog is rather better.
This is an interesting comparison with Eight-and-a-Half-Tails and Sygg, River Guide. At first it looks a little bit better, but then you realise this guy can't protect himself. Which makes him quite a lot worse, and also feel somewhat fairer. So nice job.
"He just sat there, silently, expressionless, and he listened while I poured out my troubles. When I'd finished, he lifted a skeletal hand and he pointed. At one of those little weeds. I looked at it for a moment and suddenly I saw it through his eyes. It was simply glowing with life like a perfectly cut jewel." -- The Doctor, "The Time Monster"
This is a rough draft of the flavor text. I haven't finished cutting it to size yet.
the flavor text is too long
Even-Firstier-Strike 1
Feels nice to me :)
I wonder if Wizards thought the Deus was a "good" or "successful" card. He's certainly balanced when you play him on round 4, say, but he can get really nasty when he pops up on round 2. Making him swing one round earlier when Zombified makes this even rougher. Still, while he appeared on the tournament scene, he wasn't wrecking the environment, and the discussion page seems to have more people happy with what he represents than annoyed at the land destruction every turn. Maybe it's because, if you're losing to this guy, you've already lost, and you can pack up and play another game... as opposed to Stone Rain x4, which you may get out from under, but it's going to be an annoying game from that point in.
