I'll try to limit Manipulate, but out of curiosity, why do you think Manipulate feels WUG? To me it feels like pulling puppet strings.
Untapping isn't really black, so it feels odd that this is a black-tivated ability.
I enjoy the flavor of manipulate quite a bit, but I worry about the inherent power level and possible brokenness. I do think it should be limited to other creatures, just for clarity.
By the way, if I had to choose a color identity for manipulate mechanically, without looking at the flavor of the name you've given it or at the flavor or the set, it would be , not .
Nevermind on the art thing, I'll find art myself for cards you contribute. I guess requiring art is too hard.
If you're requiring we find art for cards, I won't be contributing cards themselves. It's too much of a hassle. I'll gladly offer opinions, though.
What would be the pint of first strike on a card that can't attack or block?
Savagery seems like a bad idea for a mechanic. Repeatable removal is not good in the quantities required for a block mechanic.
True, the original had first strike and deathtouch, but I decided that was WAY too good.
Heh. This really is a Seal of Essence Scatter. It really doesn't need deathtouch when it's got 10 power, which is good because mono-red doesn't get deathtouch.
I was counting those, I guess they really don't count, but Wizards are the Ub tribe.
A test card for the beasts' mechanic Savagery.
Seems pretty good. It's like a Seal of Fire that can attack or block. (More like a Seal of Essence Scatter I guess.)
I seen to recall hearing that Wizards spent a lot of time trying mechanics including fight in some way or another for Gruul in Gatecrash, but everything they tried was too oppressive. We'll have to see whether savagery works out that way too.
Cycle of quirky uncommons coming!
Huh? I just searched and I only see two monoblack cards with hexproof: Xathrid Slyblade which is a definite colour bleed, and Soulflayer which only has hexproof if you've got some other hexproof card in your deck. Soulflayer can't be used as precedent because it'd count as giving black vigilance, double strike, and reach as well as hexproof!
Are you taking about cards like Horror of the Dim, Lazav, Reaper of the Wilds and Silumgar? They don't count either because they're using either blue or green mana to get hexproof, which is fine because hexproof is in blue and green's colour pie.
And @Alex: I don't have much experience with set building, will lower that to 20.
In the future, if you create a card, please try to find art for it. If you can't or don't have time, that's fine, but I would prefer cards with art.
@Alex: Black has increasingly had hexproof, with 2 cards in RTR block, 1 in THS Block, 1 in M15, and 2 in FRF alone. However, you're right, it is too good on this card.
Are you really wanting 35 common gold cards? That's seven in each of the five tribes? Or perhaps six plus a handful of cards in the other gold colour pairs... Either way, that is a lot of gold commons. Like more than Return to Ravnica.
