Removed flavor text, which is:
“Rarely be the prey so haughty as to hunt the hunter.”
—Baron Sengir
As per Alex's recommendation. Try to find another way to fit it in the set. Maybe Rashka can get a removal spell.
Narwhals had to change, unfortunately, because it was stepping on Truces
toes. I really didn't want to remove first strike because it seemed somehow integral to the card. But blue don't get that, even when it makes sense flavor-wise.
So instead I gave the Narwhals the closest analog to first strike I could think of: flash. Still feels like you got hit first somehow. And it matches the artwork, so that's cool. Still seems wrong to see these guys be anything but Narwhal, though.
Okay, Marjhan now swallows creatures whole. The flavor of this card makes sense in my mind. Though, I never would have thought this was kosher for blue if Colossal Whale hadn't done it first. Odd that. I wonder how long they argued that one out in the pit.
Also keep flipping back and forth on whether the counters should be based on power or toughness. Hard to swallow big things. Hard to keep sharp things down. One nice thing about using power is that it combos with blue's ability to reduce power...
Some of the old words were still kicking around in there. Editing.
The ability seemed rather strong for cost, so I kept the activation cost restrictive. Though, I could be wrong about that. The ability might be a "Looks great. Doesn't do what I want it to do." or a "Looks great. Plays better, shutting out the opposition."
But you're probably right. Better to assume the former and let the card prove itself to be too good then assume the latter and never prove nothing. Activation will be
soon.
Nice. Seems fun. Does the ability need to cost
since the card is already black and red? That's a rather more restrictive/specific cost than the original's
, and it's rare to see multicolour activations like that. Maybe it could just be
,
?
I think the templating would go something like:
> Choose two target creatures. Put two -1/-1 counters on a random one of those creatures.
...hmm, that's not quite as natural as I'd expected. Could consider rewording the ability, anyway.
What happened to the templating here? Your phrasing in your comment 4 days ago was right, but the text box seems a bit garbled.
