I agree that Samus ia blue, because she makes use of a great deal of technology to achieve her goals. In the Metroid Prime series, at least, she does a great deal of research on her enemies, which helps her attain her goals. I could see her as blue, definitely.
She's probably white, as well, since she acts out of a desire to do good for a community, and she obviously respects laws and authority. She's certainly not black or green.
Is she red, though? She's certainly got a bundle of emotions tied up in her, if we consider Metroid : Other M. She lets those emotions affect her actions, too, which, I suppose, makes her red. If I were to represent her mechanically, I suppose I would include red in her cost, but I don't know if her character is actually that red.
At any rate, she's certainly not black or green.
The landfall isn't useless, but the metalcraft part doesn't kick in unless you meet the three artifact requirement.
As for red, red is the color of impulse, emotion, freedom, and chaos. Samus is very independent, usually works alone, and does what she believes is right, not what she is ordered to do.
I went ahead and made her equipment colorless, and had her only be a few colors. I chose white because she works for the galactic federation, red because she usually works alone and blue because she is usually fairly subtle, studies her enemies, and uses sophisticated tactics.
done.
I don't think it really adds to the design, so I would say yes, remove it. You don't want your Voltron general tapping itself down all the time.
I've given her my own spin as Samus Aran, the Hunter.
Also, do you think I should remove her tap ability? the type on her is pretty squished.

Red has nothing to do with working alone.
Metalcraft in every other context means "This ability is totally useless unless you control three or more artifacts." which isn't the case here.
