changed to 3/4 angle with the tap ability trigger to match brilliant hope.
Simplified card - vampire tribal links. Added alternative equip cost (3 life and discard) - I'm starting to feel like Madness might be a good subtheme in this set. Or maybe a bit of Threashold or Delerium style of ability?
removed "can't block."
Not sure how to answer your question kauefr, I'm always a flavor-first sort of designer. Mechanically, this fits black's color pie as it weakens a creature - but that seems like a flavor descriptor more then a mechanical one...
I do like Infililtrator's idea, which is almost what I had this card doing originally before I changed it to an enchantment. I do believe the flavor justifies this cards inclusion in color. But I think the creature should be allowed to block. It's just weak, but not detained/arrested.
activated ability changed to 1R from RR as per suggestion.
done , 1R it is for the activated ability.
Hopefully it doesn't make it to OP; but the precedent for non basic land tutor to hand was set by Sylvan Scrying at 2 mana already, so I don't feel bad about a four-mana Sylvan Scrying that rampant growths as well.
It's a 4-mana Divination that only gets lands.
Would Scry 2 balance well? Scry 3 seems a bit to good for a 1C common that most likely gives a 2/2.
Will consider the theam (sacrifice ability, is what I assume you're referring to?)
fixed lack of "this turn" in trigger ability.
Keeping as common for now.
I felt it was balanced at 2CCC. Maybe needs to be a 3/4?
Fight with things that are smaller than a specific power or toughness?
Fissure's a pretty clean design. Well, at least I think it is.
Can't add any more black cards without adding more other color cards - symmetry and stuff for my minor OCD.
But yea, I'll just cut this one out for now and figure something else a bit more red.
SecretInfiltrator, it grows and gets reach.
That was my line of thought. But I thought a base line 4/8 with Trample, and Reach that leaves behind 6/6 worth of tokens might be a bit OP at 4CCC.
As for the token change, yea, I went through every card in the set last night and tried to streamline a lot more of the stuff.
Arrest-like enchantments are usually white.
What's the reasoning behind getting this in black? Mechanically-wise, not flavor-wise.
I could see a Stabbing Pain variant here: Instant with "Put a -1/-1 counter on target creature. That creature can't attack or block this turn, and its activated abilities can't be activated this turn."
The counter puts it more firmly into black and the "trinket text" feels less white as a single-turn solution rather than a colorshifted Arrest.
I think the activated ability can get away with costing
to activate. Close to Storm Shaman.
The alternate attachment ability is too wordy and clutters the design.
Also the Throne of Bone text is cluttering.
Your first priority should be to cut unnecessary fat on this card.
Could this be tribal ("Whenever a Vampire creature ETB under your control, you may attach ~ to that creature.")?
This is going to intrigue some players a lot just for the unrestricted land tutor.
I think that's a neat aspect to this card.
Note: Putting all cards back on top of the library is a mechanic that does not generally play well compared to actual scrying.
I suggest using actual scrying e. g. "Scry 3, then reveal the top card of your library. If a creature card is revealed this way, foo"
Now definitely a neat uncommon. Hopefully representative of a theme. :)
This is a strong fighter - definitely not common, probably rare.
May I suggest the following approach: Consider a specific list of unaltered reprints in old frame Time Spiral style; those cards get to get away with the original color pie as long as they are clean designs.
I recall the original red card, but this card text reads like pure black: Scarifice a creature, -1/-1 counters, discard. All black abilities.
The best way to fix this card is to turn those red mana symbols black and never look back.
The conditional reach is weird. Any particular reason a seven mana creature cannot have outright reach?
I feel good though about the change to larger tokens. Nice callback on the Spirit Bear tokens, too. :)
