I like this. It should say 'ETBs' instead of 'EBTs' though ;)
Forgot to change type
Decreased cost from

to

Changed from instant to aura and renamed from "Funerary Rite"
Followed dude1818's suggestion.
If the combat part is important, you could also just adjust my suggestion to be "this combat" instead of "this turn"
All of the trannsform cards in this set represent magical girl-style transformations, I often tried to pick something that felt a little outlandish and loud, something very animesque. To represent a magical girl, I gave creatures a physical combat class and a magical combat class, in this case warrior and wizard. Most scholars in Magic have been wizards, although there's a cleric, advisor, soldier, and a sphinx among them.
a creature that has a combat phase transformation. It's kind of cool, like a superhero with an alter-ego. I think it's original. Most transformations I've seen have costs and are very big upgrades. The other side of this card is still to scale with the mana cost so it's good you don't have to pay. I like it! But why is it called scholar when it's a warrior wizard? I think there should be a scholar creature type.
matched back-face toughness to front-face toughness. Changed cost from
to

.
front-face toughness now matches back-face toughness.
name change, was previously Cunning Sight

cost changed to

"ascension" changed to "fate" in name.
back to marauder in the name but switched ruthless for vindictive.
specified mana cost. I hope this form works. I added in "until ~ transforms or leaves the battlefield" because the intention was to use the rune during the combat phase
That deviates from what I'm looking for, but I will take your suggestion to heart.
I don't think this actually works. Actually, it also means you don't have to sac the rune. What about "when it attacks or blocks, the next time you would activate an ability of a Rune this turn, it costs one mana of any color less to activate"
changed backface from "As long as ~ is attacking or blocking, you may pay
instead of mana to activate a rune." to avoid popping all runes at once.
