Bytopia is, allegedly, the plane of gnomes. That seems to still be a supported creature type; but a gnome-lord would need quite a lot of support in a set 'cause there are like, maybe 6 of them ever.
Maybe "Gnomes and soldiers" and then this card is viable, but also a gnome lord? For that one guy who built the gnome deck?
Experimenting a bit here. Not entirely sure about the "soldiers" thing. Bytopia jibes with things that effect all creatures you control and possibility something to do with either tokens or creature type matters though - it's a neutral/lawful good plane that emphasizes collectivism.

Not sure if this is costed appropriated at 6 CMC. It's meant to reflect the Mind's Eye archetype while also involving exile matters.
This captures the concept of the Dustmen's contracts (someone signs a contract to have the Dustmen resurrect their body after they die). The only minor thing I might not like about it, is that a dustman contract might feel better as an enchantment/aura.
Added flavor text linked to the Dustmen.
Changed from "nonland" to "noncreature, nonland".
Yea some spin in that direction is possible.
The cranium rats are a canonical monster race, sort of a collective of rats with hyper-intelligence, who are often used as spies.

In-game terms of DnD, they also are rats capable of casting spells, but I set that aspect of them aside here.
I'm thinking more Duress/Kitesail Freebooter.
The cardname is weird. Is it something canonical?
Altered the text to make more sense, not sure about the card's balance for 1 CMC though and I wouldn't want to just copy Brain Maggot.
Yea it basically is Brain Maggot with longer wording and at cheaper cost.
Brain Maggot
Why not "Exile that card until ~ leaves the battlefield"?
This jibes with the Mind's Eye archetype, as well as fitting the flavor of the Cranium Rat and further extending the exile matters theme.
Another variant of the non-keyworded transform-as-trigger thing.
Yes, though I'm also experimenting/curious about using things other than creatures like enchantments on the 2nd side too. An enchantment can represent the feel of a plane in a way as well.
I'm not sure about that change, it would make things less direct and add extra costs or a downside to the mechanic, though it is potentially potent as is and I'm trying to generally keep the mana costs in the mid to high range for its implementation. I think as long as things are costed appropriately it should be fine.
Humm, this seems like a nice implementation of planes. It's either a quick opening for a one shot, or a representative of the plane coming over to help you.
Would it make more sense for the implementation to be like echo instead though? Get the effector creature, but have to pay to stabilise its portal?
A card for the Doomguard destruction/burn archetype.
