This jibes with the Mind's Eye archetype, as well as fitting the flavor of the Cranium Rat and further extending the exile matters theme.

Why not "Exile that card until ~ leaves the battlefield"?

Yea it basically is Brain Maggot with longer wording and at cheaper cost.

Altered the text to make more sense, not sure about the card's balance for 1 CMC though and I wouldn't want to just copy Brain Maggot.

I'm thinking more Duress/Kitesail Freebooter.

The cardname is weird. Is it something canonical?

Yea some spin in that direction is possible.

The cranium rats are a canonical monster race, sort of a collective of rats with hyper-intelligence, who are often used as spies.
