  Yes to all points by both of you, particularly the point about Treasures.

  Anything with the line "can't be countered" can also deal with this, unlike something with hexproof.

  A black-green deck can still use Doom Blade on this. Treasures help, too.

  And then there's the fact that ward still has more counter-play than hexproof even without a payable cost.
