Actually, I gave it an equip cost so that you can still save your minions if they're equipped, but the life payment occurs at instant speed, so you can save a guy from targeted removal. I don't want to remove the equip cost so that it doesn't become useless when you're low on life.
I feel the back-side should no longer have an equip cost. You already have an activated ability to attach it around and it is thematic to make the awakened phyactery something parasitic that feeds only on life/death.
I changed the front face to give it a straight combat boost. I feel like this makes it fine, even if you can't flip it.
Not sure if I phrased the second part correctly...
It used to be +1 attack and that's all. it also needed 5 creatures to die before it flipped, which was changed to three. The front side is important, it's the back that's the powerhouse.
Named, but not legendary?
I wonder what it was like before the improvement. Worse than conditional first strike for five mana? This paladin's weapon is unimpressive compared with a Sharpened Pitchfork.
And really, is first strike the first thing one thinks about when designing a card for a hammer? It's usually not a far-reaching nor agile weapon class.
Improved the front side a tad
The front side seems super underwhelming.
This was an important item in my DnD campaign, and so I decided it would also be interesting to create it as a card. Due to how it was in my campaign, its a doublefaced card. And it will be the only doublefaced card in the set.
It isn't single blue. It's . I based it off of Arcane Denial, except it's a tad worse because your opponent gets to choose, and will generally choose what is best for them and worst for you.
Mmm. Ok, it's got a downside; but it's still an unconditional counter at single blue.
Nice, I would even consider running it over Skinrender given the choice between the two. Seems more like an uncommon though as it's a removal on a stick and has another good flexible choice of getting lots of bodies on the board for a really fair price. Even if it was modified to only have one of the two choices it looks it would be stellar in limited either way.
