Guard: {t}: Prevent the next X damage that target creature would deal this turn where X is this creatures toughness. This mechanic allows for a different way of blocking. You won't lose your creature but you won't prevent all the damage in all cases.

Ancestry: Whenever another creature you control with Ancestry attacks, you may pay PARAM1. If you do, return this creature from the graveyard to the battlefield tapped and attacking, except it's a Remnant in addition to it's other types and gains "Sacrifice this creature at the beginning of the next end step" Used on 10 cards: Grizzled Guardian, Enlightened Student, Veteran General, Glasswing, Xiang-Xi, Spirit Chieftain, Ursine Devastator, Blaster Shaman, Essence Silencer, Raving Outcast, Shing-Tung Wanderer

This is a mechanic used to show how the frog race can enlarge.

Retreat: After blocks have been declared, you may remove this creature from combat and untap it. Activate this ability only if it is your turn and only if you have not activated an instance of Retreat this turn. Used on 1 cards: Cutthroat Navigator

Once per turn you can take a creature out of combat after you've seen what happened after blocks.

Swarm: When this creature dies, put X 0/1 green black insect tokens onto the battlefield, where X is the number of +1/+1 counters on this creature. Used on 2 cards: Praying Mantis, Deformed Guardian

This is a mechanic to show how a race gains experience through fighting.

Hivemind: {0}: This creature becomes an equipment and loses the type 'creature'. You may attach it to another target creature you control with Hivemind. While attached, add this creatures power to equipped creature. If this equipment is ever unattached, It loses the type 'Equipment' and becomes a creature. Used on 1 cards: Breed Generations

This mechanic shows that one insect with hivemind may enslave another creature and they then both act as one.

Scrounge: When this card enters the graveyard for the first time each game, you may cast it for PARAM1. If you don't, exile it. Used on 1 cards: Mina-Gey Edgewarden

This mechanic allows the player to reuse certain cards when they're used but ONLY when they're used. They only get 1 chance.

Blend: Cast this spell facedown. At any time they have priority, an opponent may permanently reveal an unrevealed card from their hand. If they do, turn this card face up. Used on 1 cards: Mina-Gey Infiltrator

Ambush: After blocks are declared, you may pay PARAM1 and return target blocking creature with ambush you control to it's owners hand. A reversal of Ninjitsu. Swap a blocker on the field for a blocker in your hand.

Reinforce: As an additional cost to cast this spell, you may exile a card from your hand that shares a colour with it. If you do, this spell and any permanent it becomes, becomes reinforced. At the beginning of your next upkeep, you may cast the exiled card. Used on 4 cards: Sound the Retreat, Entrapment Guerilla, Ark-Gate Guard, One with Insanity

In card text or details pages, write the mechanic's code name (playtest name) between square brackets, like "[Crittercast]", "[Bushido 1]" or "[Delay 4 {2}{R}{R}]". It will be expanded to the mechanic's name plus reminder text, such as "Suspend 4 – {2}{r}{r}. (Rather than cast this spell from your hand,...)"
To expand a mechanic's name but not its reminder text, include parentheses at the end of the square brackets: "[Crittercast()]", "[Delay 9 {R}()]".
