This one's interesting, since the explorer effect isn't strictly better than the regular effect. It's usually better, but not necessarily. What if instead it was regular - number of Mountains, explorer - number of lands?
In my head, I had it as an answer to cards that keep your creatures on the field, but useless, such as Pacifism. If you don't have an answer to the enchantment, you can put the creature in the graveyard in case you have cards to reanimate or otherwise get them back on the battlefield.
As well, I wanted big creatures to cast to help give reasons to use the Explorer mechanic, and I didn't want just huge vanilla creatures.
Æther Figment is roughly comparable; except it's nto a flyer-blocker.
and is only 1/1 unless you can kick it.
Azorius Herald is more expensive; and costs white as well. But does include a lifegain element, which could do it. Still, it suggests a cost of for this; which is slightly more than .
So.. plausible, but a slight power creep, I'd say.
Seems rather better than Inkfathom Infiltrator. In fact, blue's never got a 2-power 2-mana flyer without a drawback. This would be fine at 2/2 for or 2/1 for . Uncommon is the right rarity for it though.
Hmm. This looks jolly odd out-of-context. I guess it must be an enabler for things in-set...
*looks at visual spoiler*
So. It enables Sauropod Herd, once, at the cost of making it effectively a 10/2. And... that's all? I guess Johnny can pair it with Stuffy Doll or Mogg Maniac.

I like this a lot. It's reminiscent of Geist Snatch / Summoner's Bane, or - heh, in fact, it's one option from Cryptic Command, isn't it?
