I think I'm happy with it now, its safe from pingers except when its attacking, which is when it is ignoring everything else going on around it other than its target so I think, flavorwise this works. Thanks for feedback.
Well, my set has Enraged Hearthpig, so I reckon a 4/1 for 3 in red is okay, though I had it at (1)(R)(R). It's an interesting question whether (ignoring mana costs) this card or that one is better. Mine is more pingable at sorcery speed. I don't know which is a better blocker; probably mine.
If you were worried about this being you could take it down to and nobody would bat an eyelid. But it might be okay at .
I was going to give this "attacks each turn if able" but then it might as well have just been a 4/2 with that ability. This way, he only hulks out when you want him to.
Thanks and thanks for the link. I've read the articles and I feel this is the best way to implement looting in Red. Tying the looting ability into attacking/combat damage turns it into ared ability very nicely (You come in, raid the village, grab what you can and sort through it on your way home, getting rid of the rubbish).
I am considering adding a Yak-Minotaur race to the set (some indo-european cultures have quite a bit of yak-lore to mine for this) just not certain if I should have them be minotaurs or yaks. The flavour text here is a small 'preview' of Yaks in the set.
Just a quick note - whilst everything I have posted so far has reinforced the "Ice Age" like aspect of the setting, there is much more to it than just that. As more cards post the main theme - That of the Dying Sun - will come clear.
Black for instance, has several cards that deal with how it is slowly getting darker for longer (including one or two Vampires unsurprisingly).
As a note: I am coding the cards as I enter them so they will initially be out of order in the skeleton. Once I have finished a colour/rarity and I'm happy with it I will reorder them with the correct codes for the skeleton.

Is CMC ok for a 2/2 that becomes a 4/1 on attack ?
Also, I know there is a 'Longship Lord' who gives barbarians and/or berserkers +1/+1 in the set which may have influenced my costing of this.

Nice version of a red looter as an aggressive creature. I think this is a fine implementation. There's more discussion of red looting here.

trying to evoke Vikings going a raiding, hence the loot on CD ability - they take what they want/can but suffer some casualties in the process.

Every set needs it's Grizzly Bears/Runeclaw Bear.
