This does look like way too many benefits on a Typhoid Rats when Typhoid Rats is a very good Limited card already. But as you say.

At least you only turn the cards face down after paying the cost. So you could tap two Swamps and a Wastes to cast this, then turn the Swamp face-down (or even better, turn the Wastes face-down!)
