I had the "oblation" was a made up word a bit like "obliviate" but apparently it means "an offering to a diety, especially eucharist".
Joining High Market, the original land
High Market #2, a big twist on discard then draw
High Market #3, a simple twist on discard then draw
High Market #4, multiplayer shenanigans
Um. Hm. Very niche, yes.
How about "If they do, that player and another target player each draw a card"?
For multiplayer niche situations.
Based on Lava Dart. I figure a splash of lava is going to be a painful and unpreventable experience. But just dealing 2 unpreventable damage isn't a very exciting tweak on Magma Spray. So I guess I ended up in Black? odd.
Funny thing that discarding a land always nets you at least a card. It's not like the card ever whiffs. You always loot and have a 50/50 shot at card advantage. (Also, especially good with cards like Scornful Egotist. Even if that's what you reveal, you'll get to roll again next turn.)
Is the final sentence meant to be "put the revealed cards into your hand"?
Awesome effect, but very potent. I think it needs to cost more like 5, and/or have a moderate cost to activate. If I ditch a 6-drop, I'm probably drawing 3 or 4 cards off it (since lands are included).
Based on High Market
Based on Thaumatog.
I've never actually played with any atogs, I can't decide if I like them or not. Sac'ing anything always seems like an expensive price for a pump. But having the threat of pumping for no mana often means you don't have to, and you can use one as a kill condition to justify your "I'm going to make a deck with a million X" design :)
So, what's "thaum" other than enchantments. My first thought was "spells", but that's already Nivmagus Elemental which is a great idea, but already exists. So I tried "mana", except not actual mana, that would just be shade-ability.
Based on Flametongue Kavu
Oh, a classic. OK, how do I do something different? Well, flametongue could be firebreathing as easily as firespitting. What are Kavus known for? Well, for being medium sized creautures who look a bit like horned lizards, there's not much help there.
Kavus were often R/G so I can flip the colour. Trample is the obvious keyword but may be too good. I can't think of anything else that's green and works well though.
Eh, you're the one with the Tomb. It certainly could work that way, but this way is fine as well, I think.
Rolled randomly, got Will-o'-the-Wisp, was too tired to make the card, but didn't want to pass on an iconic name, so this tab has been open on my laptop for about a week.
Will-o'-the-wisps are supposed to lead you off from combat, presumably into a swamp, so that's what's going on here. You can use willpower to stop doing it, though, so that's what the 'pay ' is all about. I suppose I could have enforced needing a swamp... but if I threw every good idea at this card it would be pages long...
Though, it occurs to me that Tel-Jilad exile isn't super important now that Karn is destroying your opponent's lands each turn equal to the number of lands you can tap.
Step One: Cast Karn, Silver Golem.
Step Two: Cast Mycosynth Lattice...
*Cyclopes
This is very cute. Should the Eye go to the controller of the Cyclops?
Thank you! I so nearly took the "eye" score from Challenge # 019, but I decided it was better without :)
That is an awesome effect for a Cyclops land. Beautiful.
Ooh, it's another name in the Tubersquish family!
Based on Tel-Jilad Exile
Seems elves on mirrodin vie with artifact creatures? Don't know if this is too narrow, but on mirrodin is probably still very good!
Man-o'-War
Bramblesnap
Based on Cyclopean Tomb, which seemed to lose the errata game quite badly :)
Based on Slithermuse
Alex: Hope you're ok!
I think what you're going for is good, but I'm not sure if there's a way that works in the rules or not.
Maybe something like "End the turn, then the active player takes an extra turn after this one, skipping all phases which have already begun this turn"?
Or maybe skip phases which have completed, both have drawbacks. But that at least removes a certain amount of "get it twice", while still acting as "stop that right now". Or maybe it still needs "your turn only" as well, but that would simplify it.
Eep! This was meant to have "cast only during your turn", indeed. Not sure how I forgot that.
Would it be more interesting if it said "The active player takes an extra turn after this one"? It probably would, wouldn't it?
I can't quite remember what I was thinking (I've been so exhausted recently), but I think I was wanting it to require something to undo. How about if "Cast ~ only if you control a spell or nonmana ability on the stack?"
