I don't know the reference, but {u}{r} is purple definitely - or more specifically {b} is since it lies between those two colors in the color pie. You might notice that many {b} cards, especially those featuring generic death magic, feature a very purplish color palette. Ie. When Liliana powers up or whatever. Liliana's Indignation for example.
