Barring any counter-removing shenanigans, it takes an investment of 25 mana to yourself an 8/8. It might be worth it just in the Timmy-sense, that a 14/14 for 5WW is just too cool, but it almost feels like it wants to be a Johnny-card but doesn't have a significant enough reward to stimulate that psychographic.

This was a Timmy tribute from the very start (and an answer to whomever asked if there were NON-Pygmy mendwurms). I can see your point on the 25 mana though. I'll drop the activation down to {1}{w}, but I don't want to see it go so low that I can "shed the skin" and attack on the very next turn. There needs to be some challenge to get an 8/8 white beater for {5}{w}{w}.

I like the idea. Perhaps have N counters come off a turn, or similar? At rare white gets some quite ridiculous things, a vanilla 8/8 while very good, is not necessarily the most ridiculous of them.

(I'm also amused by the idea of what happens if you have 25 mana, and suddenly really, really need an 8/20 blocker :))

I like the counters thing where it is for now, might change my mind later.

Still, I think there's something there when you pointed out that he's essentially vanilla when he sheds all the skin. I'd go with Protection from Black if it weren't for the fact that he's intended to work with the B/W "war of attrition" themed cards in the set. Pro-Red would be fine, but man, I REALLY want to see a Crossblighted Medic try f*ing with him. Not likely, but still awesome.

So with that, what to add on? Vigilance? Protection from Sorceries? I'm open to any ideas.

This creature is already a bit cluttered, so I'm not sure just adding a keyword line is the right approach.

Also, looking at Pygmy Mendwurm, why does this use +1/+1 counters? These monsters grow up and start hoarding their girth inside dispensable capsules? Not everything needs a flavor justification, but I am curious if you wouldn't rather there be a more distinct visual+mechanical connection between two similarly named creatures.

That is to say: I don't always think of toughness bonuses as being a "mending" action, whereas life gain, damage-prevention, and regeneration are definitively "mending".

Lastly, you may have also just given yourself too uncomfortable a task in crafting a ground-based Timmy-fatty in white, color of busty angels and courageous archons. If Timmy has grown accustomed to Vengeful Archon in his core set, is Lord of the Big Butts really going to excite him?

All right. Probably needs to be green. Therefore needs a cool reason to ditch counters (move them to other creatures?). Regeneration is fine, but I feel like that's something the user will blow off arbitrarily. Maybe I should let go of that concern in general.

Then, when it gets to be an 8/8, maybe the "Rhox/Thorn Elemental" ability?

Might make sense as a G/W gold creature too.

Okay, this feels way more "BREAK ME!" than the previous version. And pretty on-the-mark for big G/W fatties. Still Timmy, with just a little Johnny sauce.

Which sounds really wrong.

Good job condensing the counter-abilities into that single chunk. Still a bit wordier than ideal, but much better than the first draft.

Took me a couple reads of this but once it clicked, I like it. It may not be the kind of thing that turns the tide for a player down but it can certainly break stalemates.
