It's Shaman en-Kor! But with something like the Soltari Guerrillas treatment as well. Very strong with power-boosting equipment, but so are many white cards.
I liked the previous idea, but something was bugging me about it. This just seems simpler and more "traditional", and still does pretty much the same thing.
This seems a reasonable design too. Nice combination of a pair of abilities... although the redirection one is rather stronger than tends to happen these days. Even Zealous Inquisitor can only redirect damage from itself. Redirecting from anywhere, to anywhere, several times a turn, at uncommon, feels quite strong.
FWIW, since I think you usually try to template correctly: it needs to say "~ deals 1 damage" rather than just "Deal 1 damage". And redirection these days needs to be templated as "The next 1 damage that would be dealt [by/to whatever] is dealt to [whatever] instead." See Carom etc.
Alex- excellent advice on the templating; thank you. That's something I tend to gloss past in the interest of getting the general idea recorded. It's something I actually learned from Shadowmoor: just design. The developers will make sure it works and is worded properly.
The power level, I think, is probably pretty close to okay. I took off the "from player" part. Still, he can only move damage to your own creatures, so he can be a pain in the ass to an opponent if you've got a ton of mana open, but he'd be really difficult to use as a weapon the way the Inquisitor could.
That's true. Yeah, probably okay.
As for templating, hah, it's not even as important as what development do. Development will make sure it works, but it's the lowly job of editing to get it worded right. Designing cards that are good, fun and interesting is far more important than templating; you're completely right that templating is utterly unnecessary to being a good designer. I only mention it to designers who seem to also want to take care of their templating too.
