Wow, strong. I guess if Fresh Meat costs 4 and is retroactive, something costing 5 that needs to be reactive is okay.
I'm afraid the name Dread Return is taken, though.
changed the flavor of the card, to make it more intresting.
Changed the name to the new flavor.
In the words of Carrion Feeder: om nom nom nom nom
Oh, whoops. Yes, I'd missed that it was actually returning the creatures. Needs a "If that creature would leave the battlefield, exile it instead" clause.
You did'nt i added it right after your comment.
needs to say 'you may return another target creature card" so that you can't bring back the creature that just died; unless that was the idea of the card.
This is way powerful in conjunction with Wrath of God/Day of Judgement, etc - I kill everything and then cherry pick what creatures I want out of everyones graveyards - insert evil laugh here. Mind you so does Fresh Meat but at least they're ONLY 3/3 Beast token creatures!
let's says your playing Black / white and have 8 mana up, then sure, you get one creature back.
so it is meant to return the single target creature every time a creature you control dies? because at the moment (at least to me) it reads that every time a creature you control dies this triggers a copy and you pick a target creature (though I may just be having a bad day with my interpretations, been a little hectic lately).
I assumed the wording was meant to do what Camruth took it to do. You're right that it wouldn't actually work - it'd only give one creature back, because the spell has one target, that's chosen at the time you cast the spell.
If that's the intended behaviour, then the "Whenever" is a very misleading word to use. I'd suggest "The next time a creature you control dies this turn..."
oh that's right.. that's even cooler, i'll increase the mana cast and we have the worste Grave Twist uncommon ever.
Hm. But as I said, that doesn't work, because this spell has one target, and you choose that target at the moment this spell is cast. You'd need to make it say "may return a creature card from a graveyard".
And as SadisticMystic pointed out, if you do that then this card is broken beyond belief, as it goes immediately infinite with Carrion Feeder, Nantuko Husk, Goblin Bombardment, etc etc etc.
