What is a good cost for this effect? See Cycle of Seasons for inspiration.

I couldn't say. All I know is that Wit's End costs 7, and playing all the cards in your hand isn't that hard, if that's what your deck was geared to do.

Round 1: Mana Elf
Round 2: 2-3 Mana Elves
Round 3: Reasonable mid-range creature + Cycle of Winter while Hellbent.

There's also Dark Deal, Delirium Skeins, Ill-Gotten Gains, and perhaps most relevantly Mindslicer and Sire of Insanity. So it looks like this should cost about 5 mana.

(The flavour text also evokes Farewell to Arms...)

More directly Pestilent Torso, but yes :)

Huh, Delerium Skeins is usually going to be eactly this; except in quite odd cases where you aren't running more ways to make them discard and they're running Ivory Tower.

So I guess cmc4 is righter than 5. That's treating it as a disadvantage on the creatures; rather than the creature being a speedbump on the way to making it a sorcery. Which also feels wrong.
