Maybe this ability is mono-black. I figured if any color removed -1/-1 counters it was green. I didn't want to limit the applications of the card though, so I left it as any counter.

Green definitely gets to remove -1/-1 counters: Heartmender and Quillspike. I think this is an acceptable area.
