CardName: Kicker Cost: W Type: Pow/Tgh: / Rules Text: I haven't tried to put kicker into multiverse since the migration. However, I'm pretty sure I brought up that one would have needed to put three iterations of the ability (single mana costs, and/or dual mana costs, and other costs [discards, etc.]) into the old site to, at least, Alex via email. Heck, I may have even posted a feature enhancement for it [too lazy/unsure to check]. While I realize it may be too hard to get that down to one entry, I suggest changing the static selection of "2" in the paraneters dropdown to a more dynamic "up to 2" as a way to combine to former two. Of course, that will need some syntax that may be beyond his knowledge. Flavour Text: Set/Rarity: Multiverse Feedback Common I haven't tried to put kicker into multiverse since the migration. So... trying to figure out what the actual enhancement request is here. You understand that it's possible to have two or three "mechanics" in Multiverse to represent abilities with two or three different syntaxes or reminder texts. That's equivalent to the way Wizards do it: the same mechanic will have different reminder text in different circumstances. (E.g. Ivory Giant vs Divine Congregation vs Lotus Bloom: one has "it has haste", two have "you may", one has neither.) I don't think you're asking to somehow be able to condense those three reminder texts into one mechanic that somehow detects circumstances about the card it's one and chooses which reminder text to have.
I think the case of kicker is entirely identical. Citanul Woodreaders vs Ana Battlemage vs Blood Tribute: two say "pay an additional", one says "and/or", one says neither (but transforms its parameter to lower case, a quirk that'd be hard to make Multiverse handle without special-casing it). You can actually already combine the one- and two-parameter versions into one mechanic (with 1 parameter): Kicker
(You may pay an additional
as you cast this spell.) and Kicker
and/or
(You may pay an additional
and/or
as you cast this spell.) will both display the correct reminder text if you set it to "You may pay an additional \1 as you cast this spell." The nonmana version would need to be a different mechanic in Multiverse terms because it has completely different reminder text: [KickerNonmana tap an untapped Vampire you control] with reminder text "You may \1 in addition to any other costs as you cast this spell."
SO... that's the current solution Multiverse offers; which I think does allow you to do most of what you'd want. So I think this request must be asking somehow to combine those two mechanics into one, somehow making a single mechanic detect that it doesn't need "pay an additional" but needs to add "in addition to any other costs".
How are you thinking this should work? Would you like the mechanic editor to provide multiple options for reminder text, with customisable conditions by the side such as "Is a creature" (suspend's "gains haste"), "Has a mana cost" (suspend's "you may"), "Parameter is purely mana symbols" (kicker), "Card's rules text contains the phrase 'as an additional cost'" (Gaze of Justice vs regular flashback reminder text), and so on?
I started to make a suggestion; it ended up looking like MU* code.
It wold be nice to automatically have the fdifferent forms of abiltiies autogenerated. Maybe just put additional boxes on the "add a mechanic" page, with auto-suffixes on the mechanic names, and example.
I think if people had consistent names for the alternate forms of mechanics, it'd be easier to remember.
So when adding a mechanic, I'd initially see: mechanic /1 /2 : You may pay /1 to /2
mechanic_alt /1 /2 : You may /1, if you do then /2
"Easier to remember" - Note that every card editing page has a reminder by the side of the syntax for every mechanic in the set, though.
