Interesting comparison to Meditate. Or indeed Plea for Power.

Or Ancestral Recall with a serious downside, and massively upcosted so that you can maybe use it repeatedly. :)

Seriously though - four mana for three cards is pretty good. Or nine mana for 6? Not as brilliant but still not turr'bl.

And nicely a build hint. "Use me and win with sorceries!" it says "What use is combat to a blue mage, anyway? What're you gonna do, merfolk them to death?" it opines. At least, after it's finished crying in it's alpha-beer for its recall days :)

Ok so the activated ability should come down in cost. Will do. Also this is just the first test card for the new mechanic. It will be mainly in blue but also in all the other colors to some degree aswell.

Whoa, I'm not sure I'd have said the activation needs to come down. Concentrate is a fine card; Concentrate with buyback {1}{u}{u} is extremely good. (Compare Whispers of the Muse - that's 6 when cast with buyback compared to 7 for this, but that draws you 1 card rather than 3!)

Even better than buyback, since you don't have to commit up front.

Whispers of the Muse Was nearly 20yrs ago, Also was an instant. There as been a good amount of power creep since then. On the other hand I can see that there is worry of this being too powerful with a retrieval cost of {1}{u}{u}. Buyback means that you can use it again right away, this makes you wait until at least next turn to get it back, also your not likely to cast it the turn you put it back into your and anyway buyback or not. Given the ability what do you all think should be a good activation cost for this card?

power creep has been more pronounced in creatures than it has in instants/sorceries. whispers is still a pretty sweet card. i'd want the recursion on this to be at least {3}{u}{u}.

I think part of what made Whispers of the Muse good was that it was an instant and could be used at the end of an opponents turn. But i can see this cards recursion at {2}{u}{u}. Also part of what made Whispers so good was the all colorless buyback and the single {u} casting cost, It helped it make the card very useful in many non-mono-colored decks.

It's worth noting that Concentrate was first printed in Odyssey and it's still just as good as ever, and, in fact, has few peers. Card draw power creep on Instants and Sorceries has happened, but not by much. No one would bat an eye if Sift was reprinted in 2016.

I like how many comments have been made on this without pointing out the missing letter.

Me too. I noticed that the day after I posted it and wanted to see how long until someone pointed it out. I think that the recursion cost will go back to {3}{u}{u} where it started. 13 mana per six cards draw just seems high to me.
