Now that I've actually seen someone design some cards with cost (C)(C/D): what frame do people think they should have? Gold? Hybrid? Some new hybrid frame?

That's a good question. Hybrid-Gold perhaps?

Well Wizards has printed them as Gold cards in the past

Yeah, I designed one or two of these, later thought I was maybe being too clever. (There ARE some cards that could be mono-C or CD, but I think it's being excessively pedantic with the colour pie. OTOH, it's a cool idea.)

Logically, they ought to be a hybrid between blue and gold-with-green-pinlines, I think, as that gives the "if I fan my hand, can I see what I can play with blue? What about with blue-green?" property. But I don't think that's a sane card design to actually DO...
