Smash costs {2}{r} and is an instant. I'm assuming this is fine being {1} cheaper as it's sorcery speed.

­Aura Blast seems to agree with you. In fact, I think Aura Blast + Demystify + Smelt says that this doesn't need to be a sorcery to be fair. Mind you, that's a very, very good card... it would probably be uncommon in an 'artifacts matter' set.
