This is very cool. It's cheaper than Rebuke normally goes, but I do love that soultrack will naturally trigger in combat to let you take down anything that attacked you that combat - but only after it hits you. (Unless the opponent was foolish enough to attack with some creatures with first strike and some without.)
This is indeed cool. I like Soultrack.
Thanks.
This card's cost is very pushed because you need it to trigger in your opponent's combat step, which can be tricky. You can use as two Serpent's Gifts, which is fine. But if you commit to playing things like Horror Spitter, you get the reward.
The first usage being cheaper than the version that can only cast once seems very unusually pushed. but hey, you're aware of it and it's a nifty second usage.
Yeah, it's a Rebuke that then turns into a Gorgon's Head, for a cost significantly less than Rebuke on its own. But eh, this is a cube, people can do what they like with card costs in cubes.
Well, it's not that hard to trigger. Just chump block the second time around. Combat isn't over as soon as all the creatures die. There's still wiggle room to get some last spells to go off.
Edit: Which is roughly what Alex is saying. Simultaneous posts, doncha know.
While this is a pushed card because of soultrack, I believe Rebuke for
is perfectly fine. It's not really fair to compare it to a Limited fodder common if its competition in this environment is Journey to Nowhere or Go for the Throat.
A targeted Ends (Odds // Ends) is a blow-out, sure, but one free deathtouch is not really that much. Or at least that's what playtesting is showing.
Nah, I don't think it's crazy. But it mostly depends on what you decide to compare it to. For example, Rebuke is too expensive for many cubes. But most people think Doom Blade makes a fine choice. I would play Punish the Insolent over Doom Blade in a mono-black deck (unless the deck was very aggressive). Does that mean the card is unbalanced? Don't know. Depends on if you think Doom Blade is balanced for your cube.
