I think this is slightly underpowered. I like the +1, and it's nice to potentially affect opponents' creatures in a +1, but it's somewhat weaker being only 1 damage. The ultimate is where the problem is: it's flavourful, and a fairly good effect, but doesn't feel anywhere near strong enough for an ultimate. It's pretty similar to the -2 on Sorin, Lord of Innistrad. I mean, sure, your creatures are now extremely good in combat, but if you've only got a 2/2 and a 1/1 on the board you'll still die to a 6/6.
Well, say the 6/6 attacks. You block with your now 2/1 and 3/2. That makes the 6/6 into a 4/4 because flanking is cumulative. You deal 5 first strike damage to it and it dies. Your guys survive.
I agree that it was a bit underpowered. How is it now?
Flanking only works on attack, not on defense. But yes, I was thinking that if it was 4 mana rather than 5 it'd be a lot more reasonable.
