Welcome back to Name that Card! This week we have a real mess. This creature is a 'lord' for two tribes, but we don't know what tribes they are, what creature type the original creature is, or the creature's name. Fill in the blanks as you see fit.
You may have this creature give its bonus to its own creature type, by the way. If you do that, I'll alter the wording of the card to say "Other creatures" as Wizards would normally do. Have at it!
Haven't we seen an effect like this before? Maybe I'm just remembering a card that doesn't exist.
Anyway, this being green is kind of throwing me off... Hm...
Okay, I'll just try a characteristic and an iconic, that seems sensible.
So, Elves you control get +2/+0 and Hydras you control get +0/+2?
I mean, hydras are already so large... but I figure giving your big threats a toughness boost and giving your spammy small fellers an attack boost is far more powerful than vice versa...
I have to go to an appointment, let's just go with the creature type "Dryad Shaman" and call this "Emissary of Harmony"
Actually this is pretty good, anyway gotta go right now lol
Lord of the Hive Insect Noble.
Insect creatures get +0/+2. Warrior creatures get +2/+0.
I felt like the best uses for this card were two overlapping types (e.g. soldier/human in white) or two complementary types (e.g. anything/turtle in blue). But I couldn't find any that really fit in green. I could have gone with druid/elf or elf/spider, but it didn't feel quite right.
So I hypothesised a set with a big nantuko (or other insectfolk species) presence, where there's a lot of insects many of whom are warriors. Imagining the flavour as helping defend the hive: everyone gets toughness boost, people actually fighting get power boost. You could do the same thing with a reclusive elvish settlement, but I found it harder to convey the flavour.
Hmmm. Yeah, I agree with Jack that Insect is a good choice for the toughness pump, with the "shell" feeling. If not that, then... maybe this is a
Treefort Architect, Creature - Elf Artificer.
Treefolk creatures you control get +2/+0.
Elf creatures you control get +0/+2.
Art shows a couple of wandering Treefolk with fortified elven treehouses in their branches, with Elves aiming bows out of arrow slits in them.
You could have this either way round, really... it feels slightly more fitting that the Elves are better protected and the Treefolk are more dangerous, but I could see it either way.
Voting is up! Go here to choose your favorite name!
It seems only I've voted so far. Maybe I wouldn't have voted for all three had I known that, lol.
When there's only a few entries and one of them's mine I always find it hard to decide how to vote :)
Yeah, admittedly, I've been holding back the results because I'm waiting for someone else to tie-break for me. But I'll do the honors of tie-breaking tomorrow if someone doesn't sweep in first.
Well, I can only delay so long. These were three good cards, but I'm going to give it to Alex for having the most original name. See everyone in (((NTC #056)))!
