While not a Cerdocyonina at least, I have some issue with coyotes and assigning a type. The separation of wolves from dogs is arbitrary when all cats are simply cats. However, coyotes can and occasionally do breed with wolves (and dogs). I'm not a biologist, but I'm guessing that wolves and coyotes shared a very recent common ancestor since they can still breed, and presumably have fertile offspring (recent studies have shown red wolves genetic distinction from gray wolves is just coyote ancestry in their lineage), I have opted to include coyotes in the wolf creature type for now.
I get the impression that this could be a 2/2, or at least a 2/1 or a 1/3. On round two, the ability will pretty much do nothing. On round 10, the power and toughness will be somewhat meaningless.
Huh. I never noticed, but mtg currently completely lacks coyote's. Probably for that 'what creature type?' reason. I'm slightly surprised there weren't any back from before the great type rationalisation though.
Aside from that; yeah; this feels a bit underwhelming. Though personally I'd have gone the other way and made it a 1/1 1-drop.
increased toughness to 2.
