I think it's more that the haste component of Temur Ascendancy was strange. You can hardly get much more Kolaghan than hasting everyone!
I feel that while mechanically the Dromoka are similar to the pre-Dragons of Tarkir Abzan, the loss of white from Mardu turns the Kolaghan into a much less token-focused archetype. The Return to Tarkir Mardu have a pretty heavy token theme.
I have to point out that it's pretty lame that they can just sacrifice he creature you tapped.
How about combining the gain/lose life modes (maybe into a variation on Foul-Tongue Shriek)? You could have the first become something else, maybe a prevent damage effect like Shielded Passage.
Hm, okay, perhaps I should have said the power level is very varied across this cycle. This is extremely strong. Mind Rot plus instant-speed Zombify is a three-for-one, as a combat trick so probably ambushing an attacker to make it four-for-one. Wow. I guess as a 5-mana gold rare that might be fair enough. Silumgar's Command and Ojutai's Command are powerful Constructed cards. This seems to outshine them both - it certainly makes Kolaghan's Command look pitiful.
Power level on these seems pretty low? Here the Diabolic Edict ability is the only one that's card advantage, and... I guess I probably would play an Edict with 3 lifeloss attached, but I wouldn't be happy about opening it as my rare.
Yikes. I fear that's crazy powerful. That condition is very easy to meet, and bounce every turn is a very strong ability. This could easily be a rare for 2 or 3 mana and still look fine.
Curious that Dromoka Ascendancy so clearly parallels Abzan Ascendancy, but this isn't so much a parallel to Mardu Ascendancy as Temur Ascendancy?
I'm impressed by a lot of what you're doing in this set. I like the extension of Ascendancies over to the dragon clans :)
