Well, if I'm to go by the Death Speakers, he's probably a Human Cleric. Though, to be honest, I haven't given it much thought yet. Truth is, he could be just about anything. I went looking for him in the mtgsalvation wiki, but got a return of nothing. I assume that means he doesn't appear in any books, either. He really could be any race... though, he's almost certainly a Cleric.
Since I'm trying to use MTG artwork where available, and since Death Speakers was reprinted in Fifth Edition with new art, he could, in theory, be the central figure in this picture.

But, admittedly, that's not a poor picture to base a Legendary Creature off of. It's certainly no where near as good as Halina, Dwarven Traders, which just takes the alt. art for Dwarven Traders. Halina's even shown with her pony here:

Any idea what creature type he is?
Same as Murat, whose name is invoked 6 times in flavor text. Halina is mentioned on five cards. She should get her own card.
Don't mind me. Just setting aside some 'timeshifted' slots I plan to use. Murat's name appears on a number of cards, but is one of the few characters of Homelands to not get his own card. That should probably be corrected.
"As long as an opponent controls a white creature, Ghost Hounds has first strike and vigilance."
It's a bit odd that this is a 2/2 for 1C with no drawbacks, since Wizards seems to be on the fence about whether or not that's okay.
Ghost Hounds is a black card with vigilance and first strike. It's the only black, non-white, non-green card with vigilance, unless you count Cairn Wanderer.
But it still makes sense to me, flavor wise. These hounds were once the loyal pets of Ulgrothans, now twisted into undead spirits. They're a mockery of their former selves, but their abilities only really peak when they see their former masters.
Neat. I'd like to see black do this to green to. Oh, yeah... I'm making a timeshifted sheet. One more thing to add to it.
Funeral March shouldn't cost the same as Murder. That's just silly. As it is, this is a risky sorcery-ish Diabolic Edict, that may kill nothing with its trigger.
"Why can't I grow a decent mustache?"
Funny how changing the cost of a card makes it look like a whole new card. Now instead of comparing it to Divination, we get to compare Forget to Careful Study. Careful Study is still a 'better' card in that you discard after you draw... but you can target opponents with Forget. Seems like a fair trade to me.
I'm trying to avoid making the set more defensive, but I can't just make all the defensive cards bad. Besides, this matches the Folk's flavor better. Suicidal sacrifice didn't sit well with me.
*continues to nudge the train away from "F-A-I" towards "F-A-E"*
I was really shocked when I saw the art, I thought jmg had sneakily colourshifted this from white to black and changed the art to match, but no, that was the flavour in the original.
Flavour in a disturbing way, of course :)
Yeah, I could see leaving this as it was... though this change is probably fine too. Oakenform was good, and green should be better at this than black, but giving up 3 toughness is probably enough to gain 1 power.
Oh, on the topic of Feast of the Unicorn, has everyone seen the GP Orlando promo playmat? It's utterly fantastic. Completely jam-packed with references, jokes and easter eggs. I find something new every time I look at it.
This may or may not have been the inspiration for Challenge # 111. I can't remember. But it might as well have been. One of these seems fine, but playing one after the other seems very wrong.
Considering the place that Feroz's Ban has in the story of Homelands, I don't understand why they didn't make it Legenda.... oh, hold it. The word 'Legendary' didn't exist at the time. It was just 'Summon Legend'. Well, fine then. Still doesn't make sense how there can be two, but I guess Wizards was still stumbling through templating back then.
Feast of the Unicorn was already kind of strong at four mana, to be honest. I'd open a pack of Homelands in our store's league every now and then for giggles, and inevitability come across this bad boy. There were plenty of situations where my opponent was tapped out, I had an uncontested attacker, and was holding a Feast with four mana. It was like Lightning Blasting the opponent, with a benefit. It was very frustrating for a few of my opponents to be undone with a homelands card. ;)
