Yep, looks good. Appropriate for mythic now. (Constructed-power mythics are even allowed to have trinket text, as exemplified by Baneslayer Angel.)
I guess you'd also sacc your own lands if you have a bunch of attackers which you don't want to burn down and just need that 5/5 body to represent lethal damage. On the other hand in a situation like that you'd probably win anyway.
Yet you are right, it's either a one-sided Armageddon plus body or a 5/5 haste that will get the first hit through for sure and forces you to find blockers or removal. On the other hand we are talking Titans here.
A lot more reasonable now - more like an outsize Magma Giant than a wrath on a stick.
I guess the only situation you'd sacc your own lands is if you've got a token swarm, and the opponent has big tough creatures the 5 damage won't kill. (Conversely, as opponent, if you've got kill on the battlefield it may be worth losing your land.) Normally it'd be better to allow all creatures to die, and keep your lands. Making it mostly trinket text.
But what the heck - it's nice flavourful trinket text. And as you said, does fun things in multiplayer. Still freakin scary - a 5/5 haste is never going to be particularly fluffy.
So this guy got me a lot of feedback. Thanks Noon Titan (and of course all of you guys for providing feedback).
I tuned down the damage output and made it such that one player can "take one for the team". That's mostly for multiplayer though. I'm thinking commander games where someone has 2000 mana from artifacts.
It also seemed odd that it can kill things larger than itself on ETB so I decided to fix that. It also burns your other creatures which should drastically reduce the blowout potential.
Making the damage symmetrical also needed you to be able to sac your lands if you just need that 5/5 haster to attack with your team for the win.
5 damage ---> damage equal to power
opponent --> player
Wording cleared up and powerlevel fixed.
Ah, yes. Opponent first, then player later. Tripped me up.
Huh; as worded maybe you always lose all your creatures (well, except invulnerable ones, regenerators etc. symmetry is made to be broken) and don't get the choice. (As you're a player, who didn't, and not an opponent who could) That's pretty odd.
I kinda read the "Each opponent may"... and assumed that clause carried throughout. Either way, needs clarifying.
To be fair, you also lose all your creatures or your lands. But if your opponent is tapped out when you cast this, then it should be game over pretty fast. You know... one way or the other.
Wow, opponent either loses all their creatures, or all their lands? That is harsh.
Yikes! This is a bit more devastating than the rest of the cycle!
So you think something like Book Burning? Nice idea, I think I'm going to think more in that direction. Thanks for that! :)
Yeah, blue doesn't have life in its pie.
Obviously, you can do anything you like. Wizards did a similar stretch by having an opponent make a choice - either you got to do something out of colour' or something else that is solidly in colour.
So maybe something like "Counter target spell an opponent controls, unless they allow you to gain 10 life"?
Giving an opponent life in exchange for removing their stuff is more green or white, than blue.
Do you think it would be ok for the sake of a set theme or still too much of a stretch? It's realy very hard to make blue interact with life in any way.
Cute.
