Oooh. I didn't even look at when this was created. I just commented because of your recent comment.
I think this cardset predates Fate Reforged. So it was intended as an original term (meaning "put this onto the battlefield transformed"), but then Wizards introduced a clashing term. Like when we look back at old custom cardsets and find cards that are out of the modern colour pie, but were in-pie when we designed them.
Unfortunately manifest doesn't work for this. You have to say "put this onto the battlefield transformed." Otherwise I believe it enters the battlefield displaying its mysterious "third face" as a colorless, subtype-free 2/2 creature.
Y hello thar, Shriekmaw :)
We spent quite some time trying to find a version of this mechanic that works at common, over on the Goblin Artisans Suvnica project. Here's the design challenge and here's Zefferal's review of the submissions: note that the biggest recurring theme is most of the commons we tried to design just aren't suitable for common. Knighthood is uncommon and Fervor is uncommon or rare. It's just really hard to find effects that are suitable for common even in their global form. (And note that Wizards agree that's what two-halved mechanics like this need to do: Cyclonic Rift and Mizzium Mortars in their single-target mode are common cards, but overload into insanely powerful rares.)
Skred given a slightly saner cost. Good plan.
Well, it's mainly a six-mana mythic that turns ALL your stuff into "Target me to make grizzlies"
Which is relatively exciting to me. Maybe not mythic, probably not 6-cost. Oh wait; it doesn't trigger on your opponents kill spells even?
Um. A 4-mana mythic Aura that does nothing on its own? It requires you to have more targeted spells, and when you do, it turns the enchanted creature into... Akroan Crusader?
The base version of this could cost
and it'd still be bad. How about "make a 2/2 token and draw a card"?
